Chapter 2.1*Mature

As soon as Ren stumbles into his bedchamber, he drops down into his bed before falling into a deep slumber. His last thoughts for the night are about the curious Lady Nova and that the future has a lot in store for all judging from her uncharacteristic reactions earlier. His lips tingle again and his mind is full of the dreams of his forgotten wishes and the family which there once was.

Nova sits on the stone windowsill, looking up at the sky. A small smile touches the corner of her lips as she knows that with that one small kiss, she has eased some of the tension in Lockwood’s subconscious, curing him of his insomnia.

Leonardo stands stiffly in the doorway looking at his goddess. “Why do you watch me so silently Leonardo? I know that you are there. I have known ever since I awoke in the fountain.” Walking forward, Leonardo closes the distance between them, slightly annoyed at himself for being detected so easily, even if it was by the moon goddess Nova herself. “Nova, my lady, I don’t understand.” Still, with her body on the window ledge and her head facing outwards, Nova doesn’t seem to be fazed. “What is it that you do not understand my lion?”

The muscle in his jaw tightens as he thinks back to her lightly brushing her lips against that of a mortals. “I don’t understand what we are doing here. We don’t need these people to find your brother and stop him. We don’t need Lockwood either.”

Turning towards Leonardo, Nova stands and walks over to him. “It is true. We do not need these people, nor do we need their prince. But they need us.” Her hand reaches up to Leonardo’s face, lightly touching his fiery mane of hair before cupping his cheek. “As guardians of the night, it is our duty to watch out for all of those who walk underneath us, and guide them with our light. These people are our people Leonardo. They already think that we have abandoned them by leaving our place in the heavens above, so the least we can do is help ease their worries and their pain.” Leonardo stares into her wide eyes. “Is that why you kissed him?” Nova nods, removing her hand from his face. “Yes. I felt the pain he held and even though I cannot fully remove it for him, I did the best I could in this state of affairs. I guided his subconscious to draw upon his weariness so, at the very least, he can receive some rest tonight.”

Walking over to the window, Nova rests her arm on top of Leonardo’s as both of their gazes are glued onto the vast black sky above. “So my goddess, what is our plan?” Leaning against the stone wall, Nova smiles at her most loyal warrior. “Tomorrow, we shall train.” A mischievous smile tugs at Leonardo’s lips. “By train, do you mean-” Nova’s eyes sparkle. “Yes my lion. Tomorrow we shall train as we do above the stars. The Lunar Village needs to know the power in which they will be fighting against.”
