Fire and Water: Part Five

Blaze had finished cleaning off the main table, much to the protest of a small family of mice that had made a nest in a pile of his papers. The mice that he’d evicted from their paper nest were now sitting in the least-rusted cage while Blaze cleaned out his test tubes in the sink that he’s been pleasantly surprised to find still worked.

All the bugs and small creatures that had called his lab “home” in the years since he’d been gone eventually, if reluctantly left and slowly the lab was reclaimed from nature’s grasp.

Hours later, the center of the lab looked the same it had years before, and with a smile, Blaze began his redemption project.
