Prologue

The planet Felinia is one of several, orbiting around it's own sun in the distant galaxy of another universe, and this planet alone, out of all the planets in that galaxy contains organic life. Unlike with our Earth, the humans on Felinia are descended from cats rather than apes, and as such possess several feline charecteristics.

Chapter 1

Purrina Silverino was a Tabinian woman with long, wavy dark brown hair. Her eyes were of a brilliant turquoise shade, and her skin, like with many Tabinians, was a stripy silver and black. She lived with her sister, Miatha, in the vibrant capital city of Tokina. Purrina was one of several GPs at the local surgery and Miatha was employed as one of the receptionists there. Although Miatha had an obvious eye on Purrina's handsome colleague Furio Yukan, Purrina knew he was not interested in her.

As the island of Tabinia was so close to one of their major oceans, fish and seafood tended to be a major part of their diet, though many Tabinians also enjoyed bread, herbs, noodles and a variety of fruit and vegetables. Purrina and Miatha took turns to cook in the evenings and on weekends, obviously eating out while at work. Tonight, it was Miatha's turn and she had chosen to make noodles.  Both women were fairly young; twenty five and twenty six respectively. Miatha was as usual in full flow; about the different patients she had to deal with on reception, about her ex boyfriend Leporio and about her current casual interest, the calm, collected, enigmatic and strong willed doctor, Furio Yukan.

Purrina was quieter than her outgoing and extraverted younger sister. She had a steady friendship with Furio, who had actually moved into the area and joined the surgery a year previously. She too had a quiet interest in him but was not as vocal about it as Miatha was. She sat, enjoying her noodles, her gorgeous hair hanging loose over her shoulders. The reason it was loose now was because she had only just washed it, and she did sometimes let it completely loose or tied a small portion of it back while letting the rest loose. Though, as Furio said, tying it back completely, suited her best as it brought her lovely face into greater prominence. She had not had much luck with men. She had once or twice experienced unrequited love but not much else.

Both guys had been kind to her and remained friends, and she had managed to work through her feelings for them. She had now lost touch with both Jaguaro and Chethio but she had accepted that people come and go, that life moves on. Neither guy had been her best friend though. She hoped that even if Furio never fell in love with her, he would be her best friend. She was still in touch with her two female best friends on ReConnect Me, the most popular social networking website in Felinia. She often e-mailed them and spoke on the phone on occasion but both lived too far away now for her to see them face to face any more. Besides, it was at university that the three of them had hung out and that had been years ago.

She finished her noodles and then went to wash up. It was an arrangement that she and her sister had. If one ccooked, the other washed up.

This story is about a race of humans descended from cats, who live on the planet Felinia. Individual characters are modelled on my favourite soap characters - both heroes and villains, though in this they are all good.
