Fate has Wings
I clenched my fist. Squeezing tightly. My nails digging into my palms, the pain was nothing compared to my expectations. This was it, as soon as I open my hand, I‘ve crossed the line. The brink between reality and fiction. The corrupted burn-out world that’s so different to ours. There was no going back now. Even if I didn’t want to venture there, I’d have to keep my hand closed for the rest of my life. Using my left hand, I moved the book closer. Feeling its swiss yet faded paper. I carefully examined it’s pages. I read the sacrifices. I’d lose my eyes. My precious eyes, I would never be able to see. Well, not through those small spheres jamming in my sockets anyway. I’d still be given that other sense. Far more useful.
What’s the time? 12:58am. 2 minutes to go. I can’t screw this one up. If I do, I’ll get stuck in between the two. Reality and Fiction. How horrible, but now’s not the time to think of that. If I worry, I’ll hesitate. Then I’d really screw this up. Can’t worry. Can’t worry. W-why am I shaking? There’s nothing to be scared of! It’s all gonna’ be fine. Well, at least that’s what mum used to tell me… Mum…why did you leave me? All alone… 11:59pm. Nearly there. Just 30 seconds. Here’s we go. 15 seconds. No regrets. 10 seconds. No going back. 5 seconds. I’ll push forward. 1 second. Into the light.
I opened my palm. My body burned. My eyes opened wide. My vision blurred and I was engulfed in a tremendous light. It was beginning.
