I felt his fingers run down my spine. I smiled. I felt so good.
"When'd you get this tattoos on your back?" he asked.
"You have some pretty sexy black designs."
"What?" I asked.
I found my bra and panties and latched them on. I ran to the mirror and moved my hair to the side. I turned around. There they were. Beautiful swirls and designs covered my back.
"You know..." Noah said, slipping into his boxers, "that's a sign of the Hartlem family."
"What?" I whispered.
"The Hartlems. You know..."
"You're related to them?"
"I don't know."
I turned around. I was seriously about to cry.
"I don't know. Damn it, I don't know!"
"Sofie," he said, wrapping an arm around me, "calm down, baby."
"I can't!" I said.
"If I am... that means I'm related to Savannah. And if I am, then I'm dead. She'll find a way to kill me. Definitely. And..."
I had no idea where I was going with this. I really didn't. All I knew that this was bad. Really bad. The tears tried to release themselves. But I stopped them.
"Sofie," he said, "don't worry. You'll be ok. I promise."
I hugged him, feeling the warmth his body against mine. He let me wrap my legs around his waist and he lead me to the bed. We lay down. I stared straight into the white, boring ceiling. He started to play with my hair. I went to my side.
"How do I know for sure?" I asked.
"We can go to the Hartlem's place. It's like a huge castle... but I know my way around."
"I'm a Council member."
"Oh," I said.
But that wasn't a sufficient answer.
"Let's not talk about this," he said.
He kissed me, placing his hand on my shoulder. I let him kiss me. But I had so many questions. I couldn't ask him now. But I could ask Wren. Never mind that. I couldn't even see Wren's face again. Nope. I couldn't. I just shrugged (in my thoughts, of course) and let things flow. I had no idea when Savannah would strike or if she even would. But... I was a strong vampire. I could handle it. I had Noah. And he had Luna and the rest of the council.
"Come here," Noah said.
He pulled me in, and he wrapped his arms around me.
"I think I'm in love with you, Sofie," he said.
How long had I known him? Two days? But it felt so real. And I suddenly forgot whatever me and Wren had. Noah made me feel like a woman. Man, I was a slut. Oh well. I didn't care. I sighed.
"I love you, too," I whispered.
I tilted my head so I could kiss him. My heart felt swollen with joy and guilt. Joy and guilt continuously fought until joy won. And I was happy for a mere two seconds. I heard footsteps. We got out of bed and quickly put our clothes on. We threw out the condom wrapper, made the bed, and turned on the T.V. Wow. It was fast. Ariana walked in. She smiled at me and glared at Noah.
"Hey," she said.
"What'd you eat?" I asked, flipping through the channels.
"I just had coffee at_"
She suddenly stopped herself while she walked into the kitchen.
"Where?" I asked.
"Starbucks," she finished.
I rolled my eyes. She could be so dramatic.
"I gotta go," Noah smiled.
I frowned, but he kissed me and got off the couch. And he left.
"What was that?" Ariana asked.
"What was what?"
"That kiss? That was like... I had a great time screwing you kiss."
"That's none of your business."
"No one tells me anything. But I saw the wrapper in the trash can."
I looked down.
"Why would you do this?" Ariana asked.
"'Cause... we were bored."
"You could've watched some nice movie or something."
"But sex seemed like much more fun," I said, turning the T.V. off.
"Wren loves you!" she shouted.
"Ok? But we're through."
Ariana rolled her eyes.
"You could be such a bitch sometimes," she said, eating her strawberry.
"So could you," I groaned.
"That Noah dude... yeah. He just doesn't seem right. He's hiding something."
"How would you know?"
"I can sense it."
"Wow," I mouthed.
"Don't wow me. Listen... me and Wren had a good talk yesterday while we waited for you. He... really wishes all of this never happened."
Jealousy slapped in the face.
"So now you and Wren talk?" I asked.
"Don't change the subject. But yes. And I had coffee at his house."
"What?" I aske,d getting up.
"Why would you care anyway? You love Noah, don't you?"
"You can't date Wren. He's you teacher."
I looked for an excuse.
"He's your teacher too. And we're not dating. We talked about Savannah. He says she's planning something big."
I hated how I got her into the middle of this. She had nothing to do with this. I wished I never told her. She acted as though she knew everything and was ready to come and help. But she had no right to get into my life. Why was I acting so bitchy? I didn't care. At least I controlled my tongue.
"Ok," I said.
"Ok? That's your reaction?"
I rolled my eyes.
"I needa go take a shower."
"Just in case Wren stops by. You smell like Noah."
I groaned and I was angry. I should really do something about that.
"Oh my god!" I shouted, "Stop trying to get into my life, Ariana! You have nothing to do with Savannah, or Wren, or anybody! Ok? So stop. Please. You just go on being a vampire and do vampire stuff. You're not a part of this!"
"I was just trying to help, bitch," she said.
She grabbed her purse and slammed the door when she left.
