That was great. The closest we've gotten. I knew that this would work. I knew she'd come back.
"Well," Sofie whispered, "we found Ariana... so I guess I should go back to the dorm."
"What about her?"
"I'll take her with me," she whispered.
"You sure you got this? I mean you're gonna need help."
"But not for tonight. She's had her fill."
"You want me to drop you off?"
"Nah, I'm good."
She gathered her things and woke Ariana up.
"It's time to go," she whispered.
"And what about your friend? Kelly?"
"She'll be fine."
"Ok..." I said, suspiciously.
But I let her leave. I didn't have the right to stop her. Well, crap. I was alone again. Man, I needed a life. After Sofie left, I turned the T.V. on like a loser would do. I had to admit, I was bored. Even if Savannah could kill any one of us at any moment, I was bored. Not paranoid (maybe a little for Sofie)... but just off guard. The doorbell rang. Who could it be? I opened the door.
"Where are the newborns?" asked a big, grizzly man.
He just barged into my apartment, sniffing... searching.
"What are you talking about?"
"We've been informed that there was two newborns roaming around. And we know you changed one. And that one bit the other."
"How do you know all of this?"
"I cannot tell you, Wren."
He freaked me out. He was monster of a man. He definitely had rabies or something. He looked extremely pissed and well... he was scary. I was such a wimp.
"Luna wants them at the Council meeting tomorrow night at 11. Sharp. You better bring them."
"What happens if I don't?"
"Then... Luna will find them herself... and kill them."
"No she wouldn't."
"But I will."
"Shit," I mumbled under my breath, "who else is coming to this meeting?"
"The Hartlems, the Cornwells..."
I drifted off after he said that. So it was a death or death situation. Crap.
