I opened the hotel room door, bracing myself. I had to tell her the truth. I walked in, calling her name. No answer.
"Sofie?" I opened the bathroom door.
Nope. I walked into the room. Her stuff was gone. I looked outside, into the parking lot. She stole my car! I grabbed my phone, calling her number. She didn't answer. I called again. This time she answered.
"You stole my car?!?" I shouted.
"Well, hello to you too. Yeah. I did."
"You stole my car."
"I know. Now, I'm hanging up."
"Wait," I said, reluctantly.
"If you bring it back here, I'll tell you the truth."
"Well, it's too late now. I'm already too far to drive back. You'll just have to get a taxi."
"What the fuck? You can't just take my car for a joy ride."
"I didn't. I'm running away from you, jerk. You're lying to me. You ruined my entire life... and stealing your car is a small price that you have to pay."
"What about the sex? Huh? Whose fault was that?"
"Mine. I admit it. But... you went along with it after you said no."
"Fuck you," she said firmly.
"Savannah's my girlfriend," I said.
"So... you were just using me?"
"No... Sofie. I wasn't using you."
"You knew we would have sex, right?"
"No. I didn't. I didn't know that we would kiss. I didn't know that I would end up turning you into a monster."
"Yes... but you knew that you were cheating on me. You knew that you were cheating on her. And you knew that this would not end well."
"Yeah... but I didn't know it would happen this fast."
"Well, it did, asshole."
She hung up.
