Pulling away from the embrace, Falcon looks at his children. They smile back at him, their pink toothless gums showing and a happy light in their eyes. Falcon feels a sudden warm glow in his heart, followed by a small twinge. If only his friends were here to see this.
"Come on," he says. "I think it's time we found a placet to sleep. If we're going to set off in the morning, we'll need all the rest we can get."
Eternal nods, as does Life. They follow Helena back towards the main camp, the crib holding the babies towing along behind Eternal. However, just as they approach, Falcon sees Thunder beckoning to him out of the crowd. Falcon narrows his eyes, but pulls away and follow the earth man over into a small corner. Eternal stops to watch from a distance, but Life gestures her onwards and they move off. Once they are gone, Thunder turns to Falcon:
"I wish to apologize." he says, voice low and remoresful. "I did not wish to cause you nor Eternal any discomfort earlier. My words ran away with me, and I can only hope you can find it in yourself to forgive me." Thunder holds out a hand, looking plaintively at Falcon. Falcon gives him a long, hard look before, finally, accepting the hand. Thunder smiles in relief:
"Thank you. You and your family are welcome to rest with us for as long as you need. We can show you a shorter route through the tunnels that will bring you closer to the islands if you wish."
"We would all appreciate that." replies Falcon, inclining his head respectfully. Then, he turns and moves over to where his family are waiting.
