I watched her with wary eyes as she paced around me. She glanced at me often. She'd wring her hands together. She was restless; all indication that she was waiting for something, something that made her nervous. I couldn't stand it any longer.
"Who are you?" I croaked. She stopped and stared at me, surprised I'd actually spoken to her.
"I am Al'teal, the Earth Phoenix. I believe you have met my sibling: Al'leako, the Space Phoenix," she murmured. My eyes widened. She knew Al'leako? If she was related to him then why was she doing this?
"What are we waiting for?" I whispered.
"The one you may not know yet," she replied quietly. There was a long pause. She began pacing again. I tried to roll away while she was distracted but I was still in pain. I stifled a groan.
"You won't heal; we are in His world now which means we follow His rules," she murmured cryptically.
"What do you mean?" If I kept her talking I could focus on her words instead of the pain.
"We aren't in control. He is," Al'teal explained, fear plain on her face at the thought of 'Him', "I am not in control of myself, he controls me which is why I do not help you, my child. You are not in control of your healing, he decides if you heal or not."
"What will happen to me when he gets here?" I asked. She shrugged.
"Maybe he will kill you, maybe he will use you as leverage, maybe he'll let you free, maybe he'll keep you as prisoner. Who knows?"
Silence fell upon us as we waited: her for the one who could give her her freedom, me for my saviour who could give me mine.
