Out of the Ground
He pulled and he pulled and he pulled his head
Twisting and turning, his face turning red
And finally, POP! His head safely released,
unstuck from the hole, and still in one piece.
Without further ado, Dave put out his hand,
reached through the crack and touched grassy land.
He moved it around, and successfully found
That tall sturdy thing growing out of the ground.
He fiddled and fidgeted until he had a good grip,
now with this leverage he would no longer slip.
He mustered the strength to pull himself through,
His head, then his shoulders, (his face was now blue!)
But he endured, and kept pulling, and before he knew,
He was face down on the grass, and missing one shoe.
