Mara was idly, gently, moving Brynn's red-brown hair from her face as she waited for
her to wake up. Between the breeze and the humidity that Mara was forcibly lowering, the
afternoon now felt like less of a scorching island day and more like a cool day in the
forest. Mara addressed Brynn again, in a quiet, firm tone.
"It's time for you to wake up girl. You can't sleep the rest of your life away, and I refuse
to sit here for forever and a day until you make up your mind."
A small twitch and barely audible groan from Brynn encouraged Mara's efforts. She
began shaking Brynn's shoulder, calling to her once more, louder this time.
"Girl, girl. Wake up girl. Wake up."
A soft groan emerged from Brynn as her lips moved soundlessly. Brynn scrunched her
eyes, then opened them slowly, their warm brown gaze looking up at Mara without
seeing her. Brynn blinked, and her mouth opened with a gasp of surprise as she looked
into a strangers face.
"Oh!" Brynn gasped while rapidly sitting up. The sudden movement made her dizzy, and
she reached out her arms to steady herself. Mara grasped Brynn's shoulders to stop her
"Finally awake I see. What is your name girl?" Mara asked as a polite nothing, to put
the girl at ease. She released the humidity from her powers, but kept the breeze blowing.
Brynn twisted around to look behind her where Mara was still sitting. Brynn's eyes
took in Mara, glanced down to see the canteen, and back up at Mara again. Her eyes
widened as Brynn realized what had happened, and she quickly turned completely
around to face Mara, throwing herself face forward at Mara's knees.
