They finished the fruits, putting the rind to the side, and looked at each other without
saying a single word. Mara's hand began toying idly with the grass while they sat there in
a comfortable silence. Joshua leaned back, letting his gaze bounce between Mara and down
into the valley where the people were. After a few minutes had passed, the clouds in the
sky began to form a small, but growing grey blanket. The light from the suns bounced off

on the side of a hill indefinitely."
"Not to point out the obvious, but everywhere we've been has only been hills. And I take it
that living down there in that nice valley is out of the question, since I can't co-habitate
with the people."
"Well observed, I'm sure. There is a place I know of, with streams and food and shelter that
would work well as a home for you."
"I see. Where is this place?"
"South. Too far for you to walk, but a reasonable distance with Kaze's help."
"Which way is south? I'm a little disoriented here."
"Towards the mountains. That range is south of us, and the suns will set to our left in the
"The suns set in the east? That's... Odd. What sort of place is it that you're talking about?"
"It's a small valley, with a single stream through the middle of it. It's forested, and there's
a cave there that will keep you dry."
