"We're almost there Mara. Keep your voice down and look ahead." Joshua's voice was
preoccupied, but not stern. Mara's jaw clenched and she tore her gaze from his face and
looked ahead again. The rolling hills that made up the plains had become much larger while
she was preoccupied with the conversation, and were now the steep, rocky sides of foothills.
Foothills that were nearly as tall as some small mountain ranges back on Earth, anyway, and
the foothills looked like mere bunny hills next to the craggy sides of the mountains ahead of
Mara and Joshua. The grass was now growing in shorter, sparser clumps that bent over as
Mara and Joshua rushed over them, and were bowed in half by Kaze's passage afterwords.
The two of them hurried up the side of a particularly large foothill, and came to a jarringly
quick stop at the crest. Mara could feel a sharp throbbing in her left arm and hand, from
where Joshua had pulled her to a stop. Mara starting massaging her arm with her right hand
as she looked down into the valley below. Mara's eyes widened at the sight, her mouth slightly agape.
