"Uh-huh. Not to be rude, but your proof of this is?" Mara asked suspiciously.
"Do you really think that 'Kaze' could exist on Earth?" Joshua's voice was dry as he
looked at her with an almost sardonic expression. "Sentient, living wind is something
that you will only find here, on this new, unnamed world. You already know that the
constellations are different from what you remember growing up with. The stars cannot
lie. Mara, you are no longer in the same part of the Universe."
"I, I wasn't entirely sure what I was seeing was real. It wouldn't exactly be the first time
that I've hallucinated. Still... Kaze is something that I can feel, and it was confusing to try
"Ah. Mara, look up and see your final proof. There are two suns in the sky, you are most
assuredly no longer on Earth. This infant planet is your new home."
Mara looked up, squinting against the surge of bright sunlight against her eyes. Her
mouth dropped open as she held her hand up as a shield to better look. A shiver ran
through her as she struggled with disbelief at the sight of the solar twins in front of her.
Mara let her hand drop as she looked back down, and then over at Joshua. Her voice
shook as she looked at him, her face strangely calm. "I think you better tell me everything,
Joshua. From the beginning. But first, tell me, if I am on a new planet, then am I all alone?
Is there any human life other than me?"
"No. You are the only human Mara. But there are people, two of them to be exact."
"People that aren't human. Doesn't that make them aliens, technically?"
"You're the alien here Mara. After all, you are the visitor from another world."
