Go off quietly and sit on your own

Damn.  Even the Slackers don’t like you.

You sit alone at the end of the table hoping someone would join you.  If this was a movie, somebody would walk on over and say something encouraging about now.  Unfortunately, this is no movie.  It’s a book.  And you just broke the fourth-wall.

And you’re alone until the bell rings.  It’s all kind of depressing, actually.  You try not to dwell on it, you didn’t really want to hang out with those guys anyway.

The hallways fill with students.  It’s time to get to your next class…what was it again?
