Emergence

Recommend

The emergence of anthropomorphic extraterrestrial life forms shattered many presuppositions about sentient beings in the galaxy held by most humans. Humankind has always labored under the delusion that it alone projects it’s consciousness onto the universe, that it alone can interpret, objectify, and rationalize its own pathetic existence. This delusion did nothing to soften the impact and sheer terror of a single horrific realization- “HUMANITY IS NOT ALONE.”
The initial panic associated with this period of time would eventually become known as the Vagrant Onslaught. The human coalition would soon discover that they had stumbled into the crossfire of an intergalactic conflict that preceded centuries before humanity’s first crude venture out of Earth’s beloved stable atmosphere. The staggering weight and sheer magnitude of the universe threatened to finally crush humankind’s feeble existence once and for all.
Unfortunately, fate rarely finds indulgence in allowing any species such a gracious end. Homo sapiens would have to fight for their doom, just as they had learned the instinctual struggle for existence present in even the most base of life forms. Every species in this universe encounters its eventual swan song, a single defining moment in which to hold the firm foundations of duration, an idealized characteristic that exemplifies the unique quality of their breath. In the last days of humanity’s continuance, this proved an inescapable truth.
