Gryphon was far from sleep. He joined Aria at the mouth of the cave as she kept watch.
“So what do we do now?” she whispered when he joined her.
“Well, we go somewhere. We have the whole world!” he smiled and flew to a ledge above her. She followed.
“What about the girl?” she replied as she landed.
“What about her?” he said stubbornly.
“Well we can’t just leave her here!”
“She’s young and vulnerable.”
“So what do you suppose we do with her?”
“We take her with us?” Aria smiled hopefully.
“This is why you don’t name things. You get too attached!” Aria kept smiling, “Oh, alright! Alright! We can keep her. But she’s not like a pet. And if she starts getting too hard to look after, we can’t just leave her. It’s going to be hard!”
“Yes I know, but if we’re leaving we’re starting a new life, right? And we’ll need a cover when there are people. You know how inquisitive they are!”
Gryphon nodded his scarlet head and dropped back down the cave.
The next morning, Electra found herself staring down at a tiny stream, miles below her. She screamed. Then she fell, and a large blue lizard swooped below and suddenly she was the right way up and gliding to a stop on a mountain path.
