in their tracks. The girl looked scared. She pressed her back against the tree, terrified of the two young adults in leather.
"Who are you?" she asked quietly. "What do you want?"
"We're not going to hurt you. Where's your mother?" asked Aria.
"I don't know."
"What's your name?"
"I don't know that either. Can you give me a name?"
"Of course we can sweetie."
The little girl stood and walked cautiously to Aria and Gryph. She stood before them, as if being judged in a court of law. She stood with her head bowed. Aria knelt before her and held her shoulders. She hugged the girl.
"I think your name is Electra," she whispered. "I'm Aria and this is Gryphon. Come with us, we'll take care of you."
Electra took Aria's hand and smiled at her like the woman was her mother. Aria smiled back and picked her up. With Electra on one hip, she walked back to Gryphon. He frowned at the girl but didn't say anything. He changed back to his true form and bounded off. Aria put Electra on his back and changed herself. Together they soared off into the mountains.
