He sat in a hard chair in the hospital waiting room, among crying children and crabby old men. His face rested in his hands. All he could think about was Juno. She could be a real pain sometimes.. okay, she was a pain almost all the time, but she was his little sister. And the thought of losing her ate at him until he felt there was nothing left of himself. Suddenly, he heard someone calling for him, and was surprised to find himself glad to have his thoughts were interrupted at the sound of his name.
"Creighton Gregoro-Hilden?" A young nurse called from the entrance to wherever Juno was. Creighton stood up, and walked over to her.
"How's Juno? Is she okay?"
"Um, here, come inside." He followed the tiny brunette through the door and watched as it closed shut, without a sound.
"Okay, well the little girl you brought in here- Juno- she's not dead. But she's not doing great at all. What happened to her, anyways?" The nurse looked up at Creighton with her big hazel eyes filled with confusion. "It's.. I want to see Juno. Where is she?" He ignored her question, and tried to push her aside as if he knew where he was supposed to go. She blocked him, and started to talk to him slowly, as if he was retarded.
"Creighton, Juno is fine. But you can't see her unless you answer my question, okay? So what happened to her?"
He huffed. "I'll find her myself, then." He pushed her aside with great force, knocking her into a nearby desk, which caused all of it's contents to fall onto the rough carpeting. He charged down the hallway, peering in the small windows of doors to see if Juno was in any of them. The nurse chased after him, but she was still collecting herself from his push, so she never got very close.
Creighton took a right turn into a seemingly endless hallway of doors. He looked into the window of the first door he saw, and was relieved to find his little sister lying on the hospital bed. He jiggled the door handle, but it wouldn't open. It had a lock on it, one that you had to slide a card through to get it open. He wanted to scream.
He pounded on the door three times with a clenched fist. The doctor that was taking care of Juno stood up and opened the door.
"Excuse me, who are you?"
"I'm Creighton, Juno's older brother. I need to see her!"
"I'm sorry, but she is not ready for visitors at the moment. Also, you couldn't get the door open because you didn't have a card, which means that you didn't check in at the front desk. And in order to even be allowed to go anywhere in this building when you're a guest, you have to check in. So, I'm going to have to ask you to leave."
