Don't Let Go
“Please!” she begged him. “Don’t let go.”
He hung on to the edge, he was losing his grip.
“I’m trying!” he said.
“Try Harder!!” she screamed. The thunder cracked and the lightning struck. Raindrops began to bounce off the rock face. He was slipping.
He was too far down for her to grab him. She would have jumped off the cliff for him.
“I can’t hold on.” he said quietly, as if resigned to his fate.
“Please! Don’t fall!” The tears were coming now.
“Why?” he asked.
“Because I love you!!” she cried.
“They say absence makes the heart grow fonder.” he smiled weakly. His grip slipped further.
“Don’t fall!!” she screamed.
“I love you too.” he said.
Then he fell.
