Being Busy
"He who has lived out his days can be said to have had a long life." So said Lao Tzu.
I find it difficult to see how you could have a very fruitful life without being busy. How any masterpieces could have been painted, books written, music mastered. Everything that amazes us about human accomplishment had to be born of toil.
That's not to say that there's no value in stopping for reflection, the two go hand in hand, giving us the ability to turn our dreams into a reality.
I don't even believe that menial work is without value, far from it, it's what keeps us all alive! I think we should be thankful that we can work and aren't bedridden! It gives us the opportunity to be creative, to contribute and participate in life's rich tapestry, what ever our financial state.
It is a blissful state, to be an infant in the here and now, but that infant is aspiring to be a participant, it's the dance of life, a time to grow, a time to work, a time to rest, but you can take the time to smell the roses throughout!
