"What about him?" I asked, looking over at Roy. He was sitting by himself, not eating anything. He had a notebook open in front of him and seemed to be sketching something inside it.
"Roy Wade. The moment he set step in this school, he was more then just a walking enigma. He was…there's no words. But the girls loved him. They were all crazy about him."
"Like you, he fit in any place. But he liked being by himself, more of a loner. He's quite popular and has lots of friends but to him, there just fake."
"Why are you asking about him anyways? You know him?" Clara asked me.
"Uh-huh…I do. I'll be right back you guys."
Then I got up and walked over to Roy. Many people's eyes were on me as they watched me walk over, but I ignored them. I peeked over his shoulder, and said, "Whatcha doing?"
I expected him to jump, surprised but he didn't even move an inch.
"Hey there Celeste."
I sat down next to him and stared at the open sketchpad in front of him
"Wait a minute. That's me!"
If you were looking for an artist who can draw people's faces exactly like it is, you've found one. Every feature of my face was there. My hair was curly and wavy the way he had drawn them. The grin on my face lit up the drawing and my cheeks were lightly shaded showing my usual rosy cheeks. It was amazing.
"This…this is…a masterpiece!" I exclaimed. "I didn't know you were an artist!"
"With practice, anything can work."
"How long did it take you to sketch this?" I asked him, my eyes still glued to the drawing.
"About five minutes."
He nodded then after closing the sketchpad and tucking it away in his bag, he faced me and said, "So…I see you've become popular."
"I guess so…"
"So what are you doing hanging out with a loner like me?"
"First of all, you're not a loner. Second of all, you're my friend. Do you want me to leave?" I asked, eyebrow raised.
"No, no. I'm just curious."
Right then the bell for the end of lunch rang. Getting up, I said, "Well, I'll see you around."
Roy nodded at me, and left.
Catching up with Rosalinda and Clara, I followed them to the next class I had.
"What was that all about?" They asked me.
"You and Roy. Everyone was looking at you guys. He normally doesn't talk to anyone and then suddenly you're his friend. It's kind of shocking." Rosalinda informed me.
I shrugged at them. "He's just my friend."
"You've found your enigmatic solution!"
I stared at them strangely then walked into class. Roy and I were friends and if he didn’t have any other friends then that's not my problem. He's my friend and I'm his. What's that got to do with enigmatic solutions?
