My first class was Advanced Biology and unfortunately, I came late for that. I walked right in when the teacher seemed to be saying something along the lines of, “…student but she’s not here at the moment so we can.”
That’s when I made my entrance. I walked in coolly into the class and felt people’s eyes on me, but ignoring them, I talked to the teacher instead who was a fair-haired man who seemed to be in his 40’s.
“Hi, I’m sorry for being late. I kinda lost my way.” I reached my hand out to shake his and he looked taken aback at my sociability but smiled nonetheless.
"Well, why don't you introduce yourself to the class?"
I turned around and faced them, smiling.
"Hi, I'm Celeste Dawn Cruz. I moved here about a week ago. Before this I was living in Florida. That's my "real home" since I've lived there my whole life. Well, my personality is a little bit of everything mixed together. I love all sports, especially basketball so I'm a tomboy. I'm kind of a geek too if you see my report cards. I love math and playing around with numbers. I can change from being a loner and in the blues one day to a total rock star the next and my fashion sense is bit of the girly girl type. And finally, like you already know, I talk a lot. I like having friends and I socialize with people a lot so that's pretty much it."
Most of the people were grinning by the time I finished talking and I smiled back at them.
"Well that's a nice introduction Ms. Celeste. Why don't you go sit there at the far end of the class? Sorry, it's the only table that's available at the moment."
"No prob, Mr…"
"Hey isn't that a word?" I asked before I could change my mind not to. I knew it was not good manners but hey, that's me. I say stuff before I think. Not mean stuff though, I wouldn't want a couple of rednecks chasing me down.
"No offense," I added.
"None taken. Go take a seat Celeste."
Nodding, I walked toward the end of the class and after setting my things down, I turned around to face my lab partner while saying, "Hi. What'd you think of my introduction speech up there? Wasn't it go-"
But I stopped in my tracks and stared open mouthed at the boy sitting next to me. I noticed the smug smirk on his face and the satisfied look he had.
"We meet again, Celeste Dawn Cruz," he said coolly while I stared at him, surprised.
Expect the unexpected because when you're in a world where everything can go right, things can go wrong too.
