Catching Up On Lost Time

Marissa had decided to go back to the hotel, thinking I'd come along. But of course I'd refused so that I could stay back with Jon and catch up on lost time. Once my lovely mother was in her cab and long gone, we both turned to grin at each other like maniacs.

"Beat you to your room!" I yelled and then stepped on his foot before running to the house.

It was like I was still a child and he was still 8 years old, playing freeze tag and marco-polo with me and Liz while we were a couple of 6 year old girls, screaming and giggling. So as I did what I did right now, I still felt like we were a bunch of kids, just playing around.

The thing with Jon was that I felt immature around him but not in a bad way. It made me feel young and that no matter what I did like embarassing myself or fooling around, he'd just laugh it off. And I liked it.

Halfway up the stairs, I felt his arm around my waist as he swirled me around with me laughing. Then he turned me around so I was facing and cupped my face in his hands and smiled.

"It's been such a long time," he whispered with a sigh.

"Then why don't we catch up?" I asked him, grinning.

"Nice idea," he said and took hold of my hand as we went together to his room, then crashed on his bed.

Jon's 20 years old, 2 years senior to me. He was in his 3rd year of university with two more left to go. But it had been more then just 3 years since I'd seen him. There had been a huge feud in his family. And it was too large to explain right now and besides, I didn't want to ruin the moment thinking of that.

"So how's university been going?" I asked, crossing my legs as he sat across me.

He grinned mischeviously and I knew he was going to launch into a long story. Which was what he did. Apparently, he's been partying a lot. There wasn't as much gossip in University, he told me, but there were a lot of kids who were into drugs and activities quite unpleasent that it was kind of disturbing.

"So, you got a girlfriend yet hero?" I teased him. He gave me a coy grin in reply.

"Too many that you won't believe if I told you."

I threw the cushion at him and he laughed. "Naah I'm just kidding. I'm single and happy and I'd like it to stay that way." He paused and then tilted his head, looking at me in a different way with a thoughtful expression on his face.

"You've changed you're beautiful now."

I wasn't sure whether I should take that as an insult or compliment.

"Gee thanks Jon. I'm not the annoying ugly mutant kid anymore right?"

He laughed at that. "I didn't mean it that way. It's just that I haven't seen you in a long time and you've grown. You're taller, you're hair is longer and you have an ever constant blush in your cheeks which is adorable."

I felt my cheeks burn at that and he grinned as if to prove his point.

"So I bet you've got a boyfriend then right?" He winked.

"Yeah...I do. He's coming here in a few days so you'll be able to meet him. His name's Roy," I felt myself burn up even more at the thought of him.

Jon smiled at me when I said this but there was a different look in his eyes. He was picking on the bed sheet when he said, "Lucky guy..."

I felt I was missing out on something but I decided not to pester him about it. Jon and I hung out for the rest of the day and he drove me back to the hotel. We had fun going up six flights of stairs and racing eachother up and down the top. Lots of people looked at us strangely but we didn't care. When we finally got to my room, I inserted the key into the door, and looked up at him. A smile flickered on his lips as he looked down at me with his amber eyes.

"So...I guess thats it for today," he said.

I nodded and smiled back. We stood there together in an awkard moment for a little while. We both laughed a little nervously at the same time and then he patted my head, saying goodnight.

I turned the key and opened the door to my room slightly. He was walking down the hall with his hands in his pockets. I called his name and he turned around to look at me. Walking over to him, I said, "I really am happy you're here. Even though I might not have showed it what with all the drama and anger before but...its better you're here then somewhere else in the world." I kissed him on the cheek.

He looked down at me with a surprised expression on his face but smiled, a blush making its way across his cheek.

"Goodnight Cel."

The End
