Reaching Desert Island

"Did you see that?" Gabe asked in an excited voice. Lou and I looked at each other.

"See what?" I asked.

"That! The island, it's gone!"

"What do you mean 'gone'?"

"As in, it's no longer there." He pointed towards where the island should have been. It was no longer there.

"What happened?" I asked.

"I don't know how to explain it. One second it was there, and then..." He waved his hand in the direction. "Then this...shadow covered it, and next thing you know, it was gone!"

Shadow. I'd dreamt of something like this for a couple of nights. I was being chased by the shadow. The shadow covered me, and then I woke up screaming.

"Hey, I've had a dream like that, only it was me that got destroyed instead of the school." said Lou.

I turned to him. "You too?"

That was when the big wave hit us. The boat capsized, and all of us tumbled into the sea. We were strong swimmers, and were not going to let the Atlantic triumph over us.

"That way!" said Gabe, pointing. Gabe had an extraordinary sense of direction.

"What's that way?" I asked.

"The nearest island, Welton."

We swam in the direction that Gabe instructed us to. A few minutes of tiring swimming later, we caught sight of land on the horizon. We swam towards it as quick as we could, and reached it in a matter of few minutes. It was an empty, desert-like island.

"Welton?" I asked Gabe.

He looked confused. "No. Welton's a well-developed island. This looks like a deserted island. Also, a desert island. I had no idea that any such island was located around here."

Even Gabe had no idea about this island. Weird.

The End
