Kill and eat the tortoise
He was starving and saw the tortoise the way he would look at a full plate of food.
He grabbed it and turned the animal upside down. Of course, the head and limbs shot straight inside the shell. He started grappling around with his fingers inside the holes, trying to pull at something he could eat. After an age of scratching around, all he got was a nasty bite and his finger started bleeding. He sucked the blood from his hand greedily.
"Serves you right" said the tortoise, quite unexpectedly.
