She was resourceful - I had to give her that.
It was only when I noticed a shining silver robot stood behind her that I started to get a little disappointed. "Ah." I murmured. It appeared to be holding some sort of weapon into Flora's back so I advanced cautiously.
"You are not needed." The robot chirped with constantly changing intonation.
"Pardon?" she asked, turning her head.
"You are not needed." It repeated. I examined the head from my position quite a distance away - it was smooth with no discernable features.
"How can you tell who is who?" I asked, my curiosity getting the better of me.
"Auditory methods adopted." The robot answered rapidly. It didn't move to face me or react other than emitting the words.
"What does that mean? You don't have any ears. Not that I can see anyhow. Can you see any Flo?" I watched her turn her head again to look before shaking it.
"Nope!" she yelled back. "And my name is Flora."
I nodded to her but she didn't seem to like that. I shrugged my shoulders before stepping forward again. "So Mr. Roboto, care to explain?"
"The human woman," It said in an annoyingly upbeat tone. "has one heart. The unknown male has two hearts. I have been enabled to hear the difference."
"Ah." I muttered.
"What?" she yelled, gawping at me. "Wait. How do you know my name? I don't remember telling you!"
"You did." I asserted. "It might have been when you were unconscious but you definitely did."
She looked at me, a defeated look in her eyes. "The human woman is not needed."
"I am!" she screamed but it was too late. The robot pushed something into her back and she disappeared in a puff of blinding light.
I dashed forward. "What did you do to her?" I bellowed.
"She was not needed." The robot's voice changed again, as if it had been programmed against saying two consecutive words in the same tone of voice.
"That doesn't answer my question! What did you do to her?"
"She was not needed." It repeated before approaching me. "You are needed."
The robot reached out and it's metal arm touched me. We were teleported away from the plateau.
