“You’re Dawn Seeker, right?” she said.
“Y-yes, I’m Dawn,” I stammered.
She held out her hand. “Magdalena Johnson, more commonly known as Magpie due to my habit of collecting shiny things.”
You can say that again, I thought, noting her very shiny jewellery. I took her hand and shook it, still slightly scared. I heard Bliss mutter something like “Not just that”, but then Magdalena glared at her and she shut right up.
Scary? Hell, yes.
“Well, see you around, Dawn,” Magpie said. Then she turned and disappeared into the crowd of people which had strangely reappeared on the street.
Today just keeps getting weirder.
“Well... The shop is down here,” said Bliss. I noticed that she sounded subdued. I followed her along the street, keeping my eyes on her back. She kept hers on the ground. Sheesh, what was going on between her and that Magpie girl?
I was getting a headache again. I shoved it to the back of my mind and decided to think about it later.
“We’re there, see you later,” Bliss said, then took off at high speed. I blinked and pushed open the shop door, making a little bell tinkle somewhere above my head. Was it just me, or did everyone I met today seem to be after someone else, and acting weird too? Headache again.
