Young Tony Hicks is deathly afraid of the dark, or more accurately, what he thinks lurks in the dark. His Mother tells him that there's nothing to fear in the dark. Is she right?
Has anyone ever told you that you shouldn't be afraid the dark, that the monsters and boogeymen aren't real? Whatever you thought you knew about the dark is going to change forever...
It was watching him. It was watching him and he knew it. Tony Hicks was afraid of the dark. The monster was hiding in the darkness of of his room. For a split second Tony thought he saw a glimmer of scale by the dresser, then by his lamp. Tony broke out in a cold sweat. The clawed hand was reaching up the foot of his bed. He tried to scream for help but only a gargled moan escaped his throat. "uggnn" he moaned. The thick muscular arm was at his foot. He finally managed to scream "Moooom!!!"
"We've gone through this a million times, Tony. There are no monsters in the dark. Now i have to go to work. Behave yourself." Tony didn't want to be home alone with that thing, especially since there was a major blizzard going on outside. It was later on in the day and Tony was just starting to get comfortable with his surroundings when the blizzard knocked out the power and Tony was left sitting in the dark. "I'm coming to get you Tony." Growled the darkness.
Tony was worried now. The unseen creature knew his name, and worse yet, it was coming for him. He had to hide. He had to run. "but Tony." growled the darkness. "You cant run from darkness." Tony's mouth went agape "yes Tony." It began. "I know what your thinking."
Tony ran. He didn't know where he was running to but he knew he was going there fast. "You cant run from me Tony!" The darkness seemed to grow, expand, to try and envelope Tony in its sinister grasp. Tony reached the front door, flung it open, and ran off into the street.
Tony was out of breath and he was also getting incredibly cold. He was only wearing a tee-shirt and boxers. "Jesus. If i stay out here ill freeze to death. but if i go back inside the monster will get me." Then a greater sense of dread loomed on Tony. The sun was going down.
Tony dropped to his knees and started to cry uncontrolably. The sun was down. But Tony could still see almost perfectly. "the street lights! Oh thank god!" Tony raced over to a streetlight and sat in its warm basking glow. Then it happened. In some sort of cruel joke, the street lights started to go out one by one, slowly the darkness crept closer towards Tony. "Don't resist Tony, let the darkness take you..." In a matter of seconds, the darkness surrounded Tony. He felt the hot, searing pain of claws rip through his chest and into his heart. At least he wasn't cold anymore. The last thing Tony saw before he gave in to death was a bright yellow, eye with a red reptilian pupil, leering at him. "I told you you couldn't escape Tony, now you will drown in the cesspool of darkness..."
Has anyone ever told you that you shouldn't be afraid of the dark, that the monsters and boogeymen aren't real? Whatever you thought you knew about the dark is going to be changed forever. Remember, you cant escape the darkness, growled the creature as it advanced on your cold, quivering body...
