The old lands of my ancestor have always been a popular haunt for things both bizarre and otherworldly. Yet when I was a child, I always looked forward to my short escapades into the past. But something dreadful happened when my feet last touched that poisoned soil, forever spoiling any chance of a happy life. That singular event left an impression on me that is beyond the span of mortal understanding, yet I find my mind constantly trying to comprehend the incomprehensible. Not since that night have I viewed a passing cloud with anything but sick apprehension, and I observed every sunset with bated breath, wondering if I shall live to see that orb of life preserving light again
