Running Leap

I quickly blinked and nodded my head, I had been so caught up in my thoughts that I hadn't noticed him stand up. He was dressed in a slightly damp black muscle shirt and jeans, both of which fit him very well.

I honestly just wanted to stare at him for the rest of my life, but he was talking again, and this time I forced myself to listen.

"So as I was saying, I'm sorry if I gave that lady a heartattack. It always seems to happen but I never know why" he said with a confused look.

"Well maybe its because you are the most gorgeous human being on the face of the earth" I thought "or maybe the fact that you sit in the middle of the road practically begging to be run over".

"Anyways" he continued "I'm glad I finally caught your attention"

"Finally? I'm pretty sure that if I had seen this boy before he would've gotten my attention a long time ago" I said in my head.

"I've been trying to catch up with your car for the last thousand miles or so, hey why aren't you talking?"

I just looked at him.

"Wow I thought they were just joking when they told me that you were a mute", he then clapped his hands over his mouth like he'd just told me something that I wasn't supposed to know.

They? Who was they? I've never had any friends. I've never lived in one place long enough to make proper ones.

"Sorry, thats not important. The important thing is that you need to get back in the car and continue until you reach the big hill, at that point you will need to take a sharp left. Your foster mom should know what to do, but just in case. Don't forget these instructions Evan, I'll see you there".

Just hearing him say my name had my heart pounding, it distracted me enough that I didn't see him take a running leap off the cliff we were driving near. I also didn't notice the fact that I hadn't told him my name.
