The two sat on the porch. Is this how it was supposed to be? Is this what they were missing out on? This is how the sisters should have been since they were little. They both didn't say anything, but it was clear what they were thinking. They remember what all had happened. The night when Amora found Victoria crying in the forest. They spent the whole night together. They remember Jason. Yes, they remember him even though they'd both rather gouge out their eyes with a pencil.
"He loves you, you know."
Victoria laughed as if to take it as a joke. "Yeah right. We both know Jason and we both know he loves Esmerelda."
"He loves you, too."
She laughed harder, "Very funny. Besides, if he loves me or not, it would never work."
"How do you know?"
"I-I just do."
"You love him too," Amora said, her eyes getting big.
"It would never work!" she ran her fingers through her hair. "Ever," she whispered. 'Just friends,' echoed through her head.
Amora opened her mouth to say something but a man that Victoria didn't recognize approached them. "This isn't a good time, Alexis," Amora said instead.
"No, it's fine," Victoria said standing, "Enough of the self pity. My name is Victoria," she offered her hand.
"A beautiful name for a beautiful girl."
She smiled and blushed before hearing a way to familiar voice say, "Whose the newbie?" She spun around to find the one person in the world she didn't want to see. He stopped dead as he saw her. "I believe it's your turn to leave," he said crossing his arms. He was always the one who left because it was uncomfortable. She spun back around and walked away, fighting tears.
"So you're the dreaded Jason," she heard.
"I like that. I think I should add that to my list of titles." She couldn't help but smile at that comment. The smile faded quickly as the voices did.
She punched a tree, mumbling things about how much she hated Jason. How much she couldn't stand him. How much she wished he wish he'd jump off a cliff. "No you don't," she whispered to herself before she heard a twig snap and spun around.
"Hey, you okay?" said Alexis who had apparently followed her.
"Yeah, just a little stressed out, I guess."
He nodded but then caught a glimpse of her bleeding knuckles, "What happened?"
She looked down and blushed a little, "I kinda punched a tree."
He smiled a little, "You know you should really use something softer for a punching bag."
She couldn't help but smile. "I might take you up on that offer." They spent a while talking. For once she stopped thinking about Jason. All she could think about was Alexis.
As they talked, Victoria noticed how he started coming closer to her. She leaned against her tree and smiled. She felt like an idiot as she was continually smiling, but that make her stop. Before she knew it, his lips were hovering over her's. "May I kiss you?" he whispered, his breath warm against her mouth.
"I was kinda hoping you would," she whispered back, blushing. With that he kissed her.
They spent the night together in the woods. Talking, mostly.
