Commander Kine

The Ambu War Chronicles:

The Ambu way is a journey toward answering our ultimate questions: who are we? Where do we come from? Why are we here? We all live with these questions deep in our hearts. But, most of us stop asking these questions, some out of frustration, some out of indifference, but most out of fear...

The lore of our history points to the answers we all seek…

-The Ambu Book of History

Spinning through space and Clinging like a fly to a giant comet, a bitter taste filled Kine's mouth, as he readied his Ylak fighter vessel for combat. Kine recited a prayer over the communication line. A ghostly fog of gas streamed from the comet and danced around the canopy of his Ylak fighter. His entire commands of 5,000 fighters were in similar positions within the Millen comet belt that flowed in a luminous stream through the solar system of his home planet Ycerri. Ships generally avoided this hazardous region because of the erratic gaseous eruptions spewing from the comets. Despite the danger, it was worth the risks, the comets being a perfect cover for an ambush, and his pilots had been carefully prepared for the precarious task. Hidden by the comets his fleet slipped past and out flank the approaching enemy fleet undetected. Kine breathed deeply "It was time…for God and Family, Fighters detach!" Kine yelled releasing a swarm of Ylak Fighters upon the enemy. Kine's gambit caught the enemy off guard, as they devastated the attack fleets command frigates, vulnerable fuel tankers and supply ships.

The plan was going well, but in the chaos of the battle, an errant plasma bomb from a destroyed supply ship hit his fighter and it spun out of control into the path of the comet stream. With his ship’s life support failing, the cryogenic life preserver enclosed him in a protected stasis cocoon as his damaged ship fell into the gravity well of a large comet as it passed by. There the fighter was caught, until years after the battle, a Ycerri salvaging vessel found the ship floating along with other wreckage swirling around the comet as it made its predictable path through space. When they opened the ship, miraculously, they found him alive. He woke from his crypt of sleep as if it had been a long night’s sleep. But, in fact, five years had passed, and everything had changed.
