"Wait," I gasped, pulling back from the embrace. "Where is everyone?" Alice giggled.
"No worries, Bella. Everyone is- they're out feeding," she replied, her words almost betraying her. I eyed her suspiciously, but let it slide. She grinned impishly.
"They should be back in 5...4..." she trailed off as we heard the patter of footsteps across the lawn. I looked over just in time to see Emmett, Rosalie, and Esme led by Jasper, pulling open the door. My breath caught as I realized I was expecting Edward to walk through the door.
Esme looked up when she realized I was standing in her way. Her eyes grew wide and the gold shimmered.
"Oh, Bella," she threw hers arms around me in one fluid motion. I hugged her back equally as tight.
"I'm so glad you're okay, Bella. You had me so worried!" I stepped back, my arms still on her shoulders, and looked into her eyes. I saw nothing but pure feeling in them, and I made me choke up that she cared so much about me.
"Thank you, Esme. I think I'll be alright."
She glanced at Carlisle. "Carlisle told you everything...?" I nodded.
"Yes he did. About my father." Then the thought hit me. "But wait." I moved back to look at everyone. "What happened? You know, at the meadow, after I passed out," I added regretfully. Alice stole a quick look at Rosalie who crossed her arms smugly. I gave Alice a questioning look.
"Well, you know that girl you were defending? Gianna? Well, she sort of surrendered after you saved her." I processed that for a second before I smiled.
"Really? So she wasn't, you know...?"
"No, the Volturi left in, somewhat, peace. But not before a few fatalities." Carlisle chimed in behind me. I turned to him and raised my eyebrows, wanting the whole story now.
"Anyway, Gianna is up in my bedroom," Rosalie explained. She scoffed and looked at the ceiling. "She snores like a pig." I fought back a giggle at her obviously ruffled feathers.
"She doesn't belong here," Jasper selfishly butted in, his tone irratated. Carlisle sighed behind me, and I got the feeling that they had gone through this before.
