Chapter Thirty

A young man walked in, around twenty-years-old. He seemed completely at ease even though he was in a strange place. "Hey," he said. "I'm Alex."

Ariel giggled and waved stupidly. Alex smiled at her.

"Alright, enough chit-chat," Hardwin said. "Time to figure out your Strength." Alex went through the same process everyone else had when figuring out their Strength except he had fewer to choose from. In the end, his strength was archery.

"Protector Two," Hardwin said. "You'll be working closely with Protector One, you're her second-in-command."

"Then I guess I should meet Protector One," Alex said.

Ariel had been training by herself while Hardwin helped Alex find his Strength. When she heard Hardwin calling her name, though, she turned around.

"Ariel," Hardwin said. "This is Alex. He's your second-in-command."

"We're being led by a couple of kids," Steven murmured to Korbin, who laughed.

Ariel tucked her hair behind her ear and blushed, shaking Alex's hand. "I'm Ariel," she said.

"Okay," Hardwin said. "We'd best find your trainer. In the meantime why don't you go over to Korbin and shoot arrows at the targets."

Korbin waved and Alex nodded. "See you later Ariel." He turned and went to Korbin's station.

"Alright," Hardwin said. "Ariel, let's duel."
