The Sun Rises Too Late

Well, let me back up a little…

Everything was great for the rest of the summer, or at least I could pretend it was to the point that I actually believed myself. I felt fresh, maybe even a whole new person. The memories of him and that rainy afternoon when three deadly words escaped my lips were tucked into the back of my mind. That meant nothing anymore; it was just a stupid mistake.

Before I knew it, a new school year started at Lexington High, and I was ready for anything.

BEEP BEEP BEEP!

I rolled out of bed, my eyes too tired to find the ‘snooze’ button. The sun was just rising as I pulled off the covers and moved the hair out of my face. My room was full of windows, so I could see the distant blue of the mountains and my favorite weeping willow that draped over the patch of grass where… I blinked a few times and made my way through the early morning fog to my bathroom. After a hot shower, I quickly headed out the door. I didn’t want to be late on my first day!

The End
