This reminds you of the eternal plight of man apres mitochondrial genesis...

... where every living being tends to poison the resources around it until either population pressures or over-predation by contemporary or more evolved entities wipes them out. Germ eats, germ breeds until resources are used or polluted beyond recovery, germ moves to another local or starves in its own poo. You are hungry, so you have to go DOWN.
