To my utter surprise, there was a blur of movement in the air in front of me and Rory was suddenly there, his arms thrown around my neck and his head next to mine on top of one of them.
I staggered backwards from the force of the impact.
"Oh, Charley, I've missed you so much," he said. I felt that his cheeks were wet against my left ear.
"Me too," I said. "I love you."
"Oh, Charley, I love you too."
And then his head came back so I could see his wonderful caramel eyes and the beautiful streaks of silver in his hair, and then he was kissing me passionately, right in the open, setting my soul on fire and making my heart beat so hard that I wondered if it had ever really accelerated before.
I love you, he thought in my mind. I love you, I love you, I love you.
It seemed all he was capable of thinking.
I hugged him tightly, kissing him back, not caring about the stares we were probably getting, wishing we'd never had the stupid fight but glad we had because nothing could ever tear us apart now. I knew that in every cell of my body was the reddest rose in the world and that this wild, strong, beautiful flower was symbolic of my love for Rory.
We were always meant to be together, I thought. We can't resist the pull on our heartstrings or the magnetic force which Fate has created for us to experience. I will never stop loving you, just as you will never stop loving me. Together forever, Charley and Rory.
Charley and Rory, Rory repeated in my mind.
Charley and Rory...
