1.2 Crash

The boy standing next to the doctor was walking around nervously. I think he was the one that drove the car. He looked pretty young so I assumed he had only started driving a lot in his recent year.

I gave him a little smile. "I'm fine. Don't worry about it."

He gave a big sigh. "Oh thank goodness. I won't have my driver's license revoked!"

I looked at him with big eyes. He was worried about his driver's license? He injured a person and all he cared for was an inanimate object.

"Just kidding. I also paid for your medical fee too so you don't worry about it."

"Wait, who asked you to pay my bill?" I flung my feet across the bed and stood up. "Now I have to owe you something."

"You don't owe me anything. Think of it as payment for knocking you down. Besides, I have too much money so it's of no use to me anyways. See you around some time." After that, he left the room.

I was in utter shock about his attitude. This is the first time I saw someone act like this. I walked out of the ward to follow him.

"Wait! I don't think that you should go out that quickly. You just recovered." The doctor tried to call me back into the room.

I didn't listen and just headed out as fast as I could. The boy was already near the entrance. I quickened my pace and chased after him. I passed through the double doors and went onto the street.

I turned my head left and right and spotted him next to a red Ferrari. I raced over there and grabbed him by the wrist. "Why did you do that?"

He looked at me. "What did I do?" He shook his hand away from mine.

"Why did you pay for my bill?"

" I told you. I paid to compensate the fact that I hit you." He opened the trunk of his car and took out his sweater. Then he opened the door to his car and climbed in.

"I don't need any compensation. I expected your attitude to be different."

"Different how so? Well whatever. I am very sorry that I have injured you. However, I really have to go now so please excuse me." He started the engine and revved up his car.

Before he was able to drive away, I yelled, "At least tell me your name!"

As he was running down the road, he yelled back, "Nick. Nick Sheldon." Then he sped off into the distance.

I was left in the dust of his trails. I just took all of my stuff from the hospital and then left. I looked at the time and realized that it was pretty late, and I still had to shop for dinner.

*** *** ***

Spaghetti with meatballs is really simple and cheap meal. I didn't really feel like cooking after everything that happened so I assumed that my dad would be fine with that as a meal.

I went up to eat in my own room. I turned on my laptop and left the music on. Random music was playing from my playlist but I didn't really care. Too many thoughts were running around in my head. Who was that boy? Why did he act so indifferent towards money and life in general?

I figured I should start something. I should begin that essay... but then, before I knew it, I had already fallen asleep.

The End
