My alarm clock beeped loudly from the other side of my room, before clicking and turning over to the radio station, on which the loud-mouthed DJ was proclaiming his love for a new song.

I blinked and opened my eyes, adjusting them to the light as I did. Slowly I pushed the covers off from on top of me and onto the floor and slid off of my bed, slowly creeping over to my alarm clock. I hit the snooze button and the music stopped, silencing the artist mid-sentence. I rubbed my eyes and stared at myself in the full-length mirror, before opening my wardrobe and grabbing some clothes.

Today was the day I told myself. Today is the day it's all going to happen. I grinned at my reflection in the mirror; a knowing smile, a smile that said my life is going to change.

I ripped off my pyjamas and threw on my school clothes; eager to get moving. I swung open my bedroom door, bag in hand, and ran down the stairs at top speed.

"LALA" my mother yelled from the top of the stairs.

Damn, I thought, I had almost got away. "Yes Mum?" I shouted back, exaseratedly.

"Eat some breakfast before you go" She called, "And don't forget your trip money"

"Yes mum," I shouted back, running into the kitchen to grab my form and a snack bar to eat on the way. I sprinted out of the door and all the way to the bus stop, checking the time as I arrived.

The bus pulled up shortly after I arrived and I jumped on, smiling at the bus driver as he checked my bus pass. He handed it back slowly and I bounded down the aisle and took the seat next to my friend Zara.
