Where the Streets Have No Name

This truly is my theme song. It's not my favorite song or anything like that. It just is me and I am it.

I spend a lot of my life walking around with a large backpack, hitchhiking, meeting lots of people, and living functionally homeless. After you've been on the road for a while, traveling randomly and spontaneously, every place becomes pretty much every other place. In fact, sometimes it takes me a minute to remember where I am. What state? What city? It just doesn't matter. It's all just one big place, and eventually there becomes nothing exotic or significantly different between one place and another place. Yet there are tons of differences even from one town to the next.

When you're always on the move, it doesn't matter if the space you occupy at any given time has a formal title. As far as I'm concerned, it's just the place I happen to be right now. It's the street that goes in the direction I think I'm heading. I usually don't have a reason to call 'this road' anything at all, so I don't worry about it.

I live where the streets have no name. I live everywhere. That song makes me feel like I matter in some small way, and maybe I do. We'll see.

Oh yeah, and "Where the Streets Have No Name" is also perfect for an opening credit sequence. The emotion and feel of the song so effortlessly say "Welcome to Aimless. Prepare for an adventure."

The End
