There are far too many songs that mean something to me, mainly by Muse and Paramore, but one song that I always remember is Imaginary by Evanescence. The song seems quite dark but some of the lyrics made me think it sounded just like me:
In my field of paper flowers
Of candy clouds and lullabies
I lie inside myself for hours
And watch my purple skies fly over me
To me it's just about creating your own fantasy world and spending so much time in it it's like you live there; I'm sure a lot of people on Protagonize spend a lot of time thinking up their own story worlds inside their heads. It's also like escaping from the real world; I use writing as an escape from the mundane everyday life and all the problems in it.
Don't say I'm out of touch
With this rampant chaos, your reality
I know well what lies beyond my sleeping refuge
The nightmare I built my own world to escape
With all the troubles in the real world, especially recent times, who wouldn't want to retreat to their own imaginary ones sometimes?
