So far, we had won all of our games. I was nervous as the final match came, though. We would be up against the wolves again. Orvil wasn't their captain anymore but I heard their new captain was just as big.

"Just as long as he doesn't touch me," I sighed, tying up my shoes.

"If he does, I'll kill him," Logan said. "Come- Wait." He thought for a second and I smiled a little. "Are you ready to go?"

I nodded. Over the last few days, Logan had been doing his best to make sure his requests actually came out as requests and not orders. It was difficult and sometimes it didn't work but that was okay. I also learned to not disobey.

I was trying to walk the other way and my body seized up until Logan ran over to help me. It was frustrating but at least Logan was willing to help me through it. I had a feeling Orvil wouldn't be as kind to me. I'd probably be spending a lot of time in his company. The very thought made me shudder.

When we got to the court, it was around 5. When the sun set, it would be the signal of the end of the game. Afterwards, there would be a big party and bonfire. I was in my yoga capris and a sports tank again. I was very nervous.

"You'll be fine," Ivan said when he saw me eyeing our opponents nervously.

"Who is starting off with the ball today?" I asked.

"We are," he said.

I nodded and we gathered in a circle with Logan.

"All right guys," he breathed, "this is it. We've faced these guys before so don't let them intimidate you like they tried last week. Their new captain is... simple really. He's great at dodging so don't try to get- I mean, will you make sure you don't try to dodge around him, Annalise?"

"Yeah," I said.

"Okay," he said and we put our hands in the middle.

I took a deep breath as we took position. Pierre walked onto the court, a ball in his hands.

"All right, folks," he said and all conversation ceased. "Tonight is the last game of the tournament. Whoever wins will get trophies and bragging rights. If I see any of you tossing a human on this court, though, you will be forced to forfeit. Clean game, guys."

He tossed the ball to Logan. As soon as Pierre blew his whistle, I ran for the basket. I could see Logan out of the corner of my eye as I took my guard spot. We had come up with a plan for communication. Instead of speaking, we had gestures that we used to indicate where we were going and who we would pass it to.

I saw Logan make the gesture for me and I ran for the goal. Right on time, I grabbed the ball, dribbled it once, and did a layup. I grinned as we backed up for defense. Everyone clapped and cheered as they ran over.

The wolves all seemed afraid of me after Pierre's threat. I was a little disappointed. I wanted a challenge but they were practically handing us the game. The others noticed and Logan called for a timeout.

"This isn't an even game," I said immediately.

"I know," he said. "But there's nothing we can do except for dumb down, too."

"Where's the fun in that?" Garth asked. "Who cares if they pass the game over? We can play more later."

"Sun's about to set!" Pierre shouted.

We went back onto the court and the ball was passed to me. I headed for the net but had to screech to a halt as their new captain stepped right in front of me. I saw Logan nodding and I tossed it over to him behind my back. The captain winked at me and I shuddered, falling back. Logan had made the shot but he was glaring at the captain.

The sun set and we won. I beamed and hugged the guys. Logan held onto my longer and my heart jumped a little. I cleared my throat and accepted the trophy passed to me.

"Hold mine," Logan said and I was forced to.

I frowned at him. He was on his way to the captain of the other team.

"Uh oh," Ivan muttered.

"Eyes to yourself," he snarled, glaring into the wolf's face.

"Aw, don't be like that," the captain said. "Why don't you share? Everyone knows you're her master now."

I blushed.

"Keep gawking at her and I'll gouge your eyes out," he said and turned, coming back to us.

He smiled at me but it faltered.

"You can give me the trophy back," he said and I popped my hip out. "Oh! I told you to take it, didn't I? Crap." He cleared his threat. "Hand me the trophy."

I passed it to him and glanced at the captain again. He was glaring at Logan. Logan just ignored him and led us back to the cabin to put our trophies away. He cleared his throat before we left the cabin.

"Are they start the bonfire, I want you to take a walk with me," he said.

"Okay," I said, my heart racing.

I remembered saying he had something important to tell me. Would now be the time? I had been burning with curiosity but recent events had made me forget about it.

Whoever it was that threw the table at me was still causing trouble among the humans. Not only was I to be escorted places, so was every other human. I conveniently forgot to tell my mom about it. She'd panic. I frowned at the grass, remembering how just two weeks ago I didn't want to be here. As I walked with Logan, though, I realized I had come to really enjoy Camp Celestial and its campers.

We stood at the edge of the bonfire and he put his hands in his pockets. I bit my lip, waiting anxiously for Pierre to get here. I hated waiting for someone to give me important news. I just wanted them to tell me right away and get it over with.

Finally, Pierre arrived with a big grin on his face.

"I want everyone to give a round of applause to our winners," he announced and I smiled sheepishly as people applauded. "Tonight we have come to celebrate their success. Enjoy the food and desserts!"

He stepped back and Logan took my hand. He walked backwards until we disappeared. No one noticed which was clearly his desire. He didn't let go of my hand as we walked to the other side of the lake and I held it back. My face was red but he wasn't looking at me yet.

Finally, he stopped walking. We couldn't hear any noise from the bonfire and they couldn't see us. The full moon was shining on the lake and it was very beautiful.

"Okay," he breathed and he looked incredibly nervous. "So, there's something I've kind of been keeping from you for the last two weeks," he muttered, still avoiding my eyes. "Mostly I did it because I wasn't sure if it was true or not.... I'm not-I'm not used to it."

He finally looked at me. I was surprised. His eyes were silver, something I didn't think would happen until he became the alpha. He walked over until he was inches from me. He looked down at me, his eyes half closed. My heart rate increased and, even though he just held my hand, goosebumps erupted on my arms.

"Annalise," he said quietly, "you're.... We're...." He sighed. "Actually, here."

He leaned in and kissed me. My eyes widened but, as if I had been dying to do it, I kissed him back. I closed my eyes and he wrapped an arm around me. I ran my hand through his wavy hair and he licked my lower lip. I gasped as I allowed him to deepen the kiss. I had never been kissed before.

He pulled away and pressed his forehead to mine. I opened my eyes again. His nose brushed mine and our eyes locked.

"You're mine and not just because of the battle," he whispered. "Also because...."

"I'm your mate," I finished when he hesitated and he nodded.

I shut my eyes, trying to process this information. He held my hands, lacing our fingers. He didn't speak or kiss me again.

"I don't understand," I said finally. "I'm.... I'm a human."

"That doesn't matter," he said. "Open your eyes, please." I obeyed. He bit his lip, his eyes back to their blew. "As the next alpha, I have the power to demand you come with me. I'm not going to do that to you, though." He kissed my fingers. "I want you to be with me because you want to be."

"Are you-Are you proposing?" I gasped.

"In a way," he said. "There's one thing we have to do before you're officially mine."

"What is it?" I asked.

He shut his eyes again. "We.... Well- I don't want to embarrass you but-"

I sighed. "Just tell me, Logan."

"We have to have sex so I can mark you," he blurted and I stepped away.

"What?" I squeaked.

"Calm down," he said quickly. "That's in the future. We don't have to do that any time soon."

I blinked. "I'm a little overwhelmed, Logan," I whispered.

"I know," he said. "I'll help you, though. While we're here, I'll teach you about us some more." He glanced at the bonfire. "We need to keep this is a secret, though."

"What do you mean?"

"Just like I haven't told anyone I'm the next alpha, we shouldn't tell anyone. They'll treat us differently and I don't want that. Do you?"

I thought about it. "No, I don't."

He nodded and our eyes met again. As if we were reading each other's minds, we met for another kiss. We held onto each other tightly, kissing passionately under the full moon.

The End
