By the time it actually came to going out with Eden, I was pretty much a nervous wreck. I mean, me and Maxxie had never really done the dating thing properly when we started going out, and everything after that was just going out with my other half. I'd never had to go out with someone to impress them enough for a second date, but then if Maxxie had been right about Eden being into me for a while, I s'pose I didn't have to worry too much.

I dropped the kids off with Alex and Caleb, kissing my babies good bye and telling them to behave before getting some last minute advice from Alex and going off to get Eden from her place. Alex's advice? "Relax". Dude, if it was that easy I'd be chilled out already. I tried to calm myself down on the drive to Eden's, waiting a few minutes in the car before picking up the courage to go and actually knock on her front door.

"Hey" she smiled, opening the door.

"Hey" I said nervously. "Ready?"

"Mhm" she nodded, grabbing her handbag and stepping outside, shutting the door behind her.

God, she looked fucking stunning. She was wearing a black dress that showed off her curves, and had her hair curled lightly as it hung over her shoulders. The dress finished at her knees, showing off her legs, which were amazing, for the record, and she wore a pair of black high heels that matched her dress perfectly.

"You look amazing" I smiled, feeling a little underdressed in a smart shirt and some skinny jeans I'd borrowed from Caleb.

"Thanks. You're not so bad yourself" she smiled. "What's the plan, then?"

"I was thinking we could go to the Italian place near where I used to live for dinner, and then we could go to a bar or something afterwards"

"Sounds fun" she smiled.

I walked her over to my car, opening the door for her and shutting it once she was in. We chatted a little as I drove to the Italian, trying not to let my nerves get the better of me. Eden seemed to notice my nerves anyway, putting her hand on top of mine when we were waiting at a traffic signal. I looked over at her and she smiled, leaning over and kissing my cheek.

"Relax, Hadley" she said softly and I nodded slightly.

She played with my hair as I drove, and eventually we pulled up outside the restaurant. I opened her door again, letting her out and walking her up to the restaurant once I'd locked her door. We were sat at a table by the window, a candle between us. I felt a little bad for bringing her to the same place me and Maxxie used to go, but I didn't want to risk taking her someone horrible.

Dinner went without a hitch, and before we knew it, we were getting tipsy in a bar not too far from the restaurant. Eden was throwing back whiskey and hard liquor, and made me feel like such a girl drinking vodka and cocktails. Don't judge me. Before long, we'd ended up on the dance floor getting a little, uh, better acquainted, for lack of a better word. Eden was grinding against me, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't enjoying it. I mean, it felt wrong given it'd only been five months since Maxxie died, but it was nice to get some attention for once. When she tried to French me, I kind of pulled back, not letting her push her tongue in my mouth. She looked at me with disappointment in her eyes, and I flashed her a tiny smile.

"I think we've both drunk enough for tonight" I said and she kissed my cheek, letting me lead her out of the bar and back to my car to wait while I called for a cab.

Eden was lying down on the backseat when I went to check on her, yelping in surprise as she sat up, pulling me on top of her and shutting the door.

"Eden, what-" I said, surprised but she pressed a finger to my lips, cutting me off.

She kept her finger pressed to my lips, unzipping her dress a little with the other hand. I watched her, a little curious, but ultimately feeling like it was all too fast. I sighed, reaching over and zipping her dress back up. She shot me a confused look before sliding off the seat, trying to get my jeans undone. I grabbed her hands gently, prising her away from my waistband.

"Eden, the cab's gonna be here in a bit, don't you think we should wait outside?"

"Do you not like me?" she asked.

"Of course I like you"

"Then why don't you want me to blow you?"

"Because this is our first date"

"Yeah, and we've been friends for years" she said, almost in tears.

“I just think we should take it slow”

“Okay” she sighed, straightening herself back up just as the cab arrived.

The End
