Something heavy hit the other side of the locked door. Dawn braced his back against it and saw Gabriel in front of him the vampyre had his eyes shut.

“Its no worse then what you do” Dawn said Gabriel swallowed.

“Yes it is” he mumbled.

“Not really” Dawn smiled “you kill them he just cleans up after you”

“I don’t care” Gabriel jumped as a hand rested on his shoulder.

“Hello” a deep voice said behind him. Gabriel turned around opening his eyes a tall thin creature stood behind him he was a handsome androgynous youth with huge black feathered wings. Dawn thought would have been painfully beautiful but the blood stained mouth and hands sort of detracted from the over all affect. Gabriel on the other hand didn’t care he smiled and held his hand out. “My name is Alexander. Sorry for making you uncomfortable” the voice was still gravely and grating and Gabriel shivered slightly.

“That’s alright” Gabriel said unsure of what to really make of this creature. Another loud bang came from the other side of the door.

“We’ve got to get out of here” Dawn said

“Cant you teleport us out?” Alexander asked Dawn shook his head.

“I could only get one of you out. My magick’s almost gone” Dawn stated Gabriel frowned.

“Take Alexander I’ll get myself out” it was Dawn's turn to frown.

“Gabriel” his voice held a warning.

“Dawn don’t bother I am not made of china” Gabriel snarled

“We’ll get out together” Dawn said “then I’ll take Alexander to the midway meet us there” Gabriel sighed but he nodded.

“Why can’t we try that door?” Alexander asked he pointed at a small door on the other side of the room.

“It’s probably a broom cupboard” Gabriel said.

“Try it” Dawn said. Gabriel ran to it and pulled it open a long corridor stretched out in front of him.

“Come on” Gabriel shouted, Dawn left the door he and Alexander and ran to Gabriel. A shot rang out behind them the lock on the door destroyed. They could hear pounding footsteps behind them. Gabriel rounded a corner first and wrenched the door open that lay at the end of the corridor.

Icy cold air blasted him in the face.

“Gabriel get up there” Dawn ordered him pointing to a fire escape.

“Dawn why don’t we just fly together?” Gabriel asked

“I cant” Dawn said “its one of two evils either I fly and fall or I teleport and pass out” Dawn gripped Alexander’s arm “I’d prefer to pass out where I’m safe”
