Gabriel wrapped the scarf around his neck. “Didn’t you want to go to the end of the party?”

“Not really, I didn’t want to go to the beginning” Dawn sat down on the bed while Gabriel pulled his coat on.

“I’ll remember that for next time” Dawn laughed.

“you organized it?” Gabriel frowned

“I did” Dawn smiled.

“Well I still didn’t want it”

“I gathered” the daemon shrugged. “I don’t mind” Dawn stood up putting his hands in his pockets.

“Dawn” Gabriel said “I’m sorry” Dawn flashed a smile at him.

“What for?”

“For being a grouchy bastard” Dawn grinned.

“Hey, I wouldn’t like you if you weren’t”

“Dawn you’d like me if I was a sadistic maniac” Dawn shivered slightly.

“Probably more than I do now” he muttered.

“What?” Gabriel asked tucking a dagger into his boot.

“Nothing. Are you ready?” Gabriel nodded

Brightonwas heaving even with the deep snow covering the ground. Gabriel was having a little difficulty staying upright. Dawn gripped his arm tightly to stop him falling.

“Thanks” Gabriel said Dawn didn’t reply as they turned down an alley. “Dawn are you going to leave me to it this time?” Gabriel asked as they walked.

“I have something to pick up” Dawn said. his boot slid out from beneath him and taking Gabriel down with him he landed heavily on his back smacking the back of his head on the icy ground. Gabriel landed on top of him and Dawn groaned.

“That hurt” he winced touching the back of his head with a gloved hand. Then seeing Gabriel he grinned. “Still could have been worse.”

“Shut up” Gabriel snapped trying to pull himself back up again. Dawn grinned and helped Gabriel off him. The daemon sat up.

“Any chance of you getting back on. You were lovely and warm” Gabriel managed to kick snow at Dawn without slipping and walked off.

“I’m joking” he called after the grumpy vampyre. “or not” he mumbled to himself catching up with Gabriel and rubbing the back of his head.
