Miren ran her fingers through the water. She wasn't sure how many hours had passed. She wasn't sure when she'd surface.
There she was, in the middle of the sea, hoping that someone would find her.
Funny thing is, the whole situation kinda reminded her of bobbing for apples.
The not-so-funny thing? In this case, she happened to be the apple waiting to be saved from its watery grave.
"Hello?" Miren called, forcing her head above the water. She thought she was screaming, but she was really whispering. "Anybody out there?" What a stupid thing to say! Miren admonished. If anyone was out there, they would have helped you already. She stopped diminishing herself when she realized that she was suddenly very, very warm.
Miren, you see, was wrong; the situation was totally unlike bobbing for apples.
But, it was very much like a lobster in a pot of boiling water.
