After working for a few hours on my book, I had to go to work. Like always, I'm serving table, pouring coffee for night owls and people who are one step away from being zombies. I've got an organized mind so I can keep track of several things all while having my mind wandering on more interesting things.

There's something that won't get out of my mind, while reviewing my notes, I noticed something at the bottom I don't remember ever writing...

"Cass; Find Alek's secret.
If you don't know anything, then it would be better for you to stay that way. Stay in the dark so what lurks in it cannot find you. It's all a lie, everything is a lie. Reconsider what is and what isn't"

It was written in my handwriting, but I didn't write it myself. Or at least not anytime I can remember... What is Alek's secret? All this about lies and what exist and what doesn't... It all feel so familiar, like I'm remembering something from long ago.

When my shift ends, I gather my stuff and leave by the back door. Once the door closes completely, I hear footsteps rapidly approaching me. I turn around alarmed only to see a man step out of the shadows.

"A-Alek?" I call out hesitantly.

"Not quite..." The man mutters before stepping closer into the light.

"It can't be..."

"It is... It's me."

Dropping my handbag, I rush over to him, tackling the man and holding him in my arms. He gently returns the favor and after a few seconds, we split up and I look at him in the eyes... Right before I drive my fist right down in his stomach.

"What the hell were you thinking Nathan, I was worried sick about you!" I scream in his ears as he bend over from the hit.

"You hit hard for a girl." He cough out, earning him a kick in the torso.

"What's this for a girl thing?" I ask, not really angry, still happy to see him again. "What the hell happened, why did you drop off the radar?"

"I had problems... I needed to disappear."

"Disappear, what from?"

"It's a long story, a very complicated one too. It's something I don't want to talk about... At least not right now." He says, mumbling thew words while looking away.

I look inside his eyes and I can see the pain, worry and fear within them. I wrapped my arms around him again as said "It's alright. Everything's going to be alright."

"I seriously hope so..."

The End
