He nodded again and left.
Another guy came in from a door on the other side of the room.
“Where’s Zeke?” he asked, looking around the room.
“Just missed him, Caleb,” Robert said. “He’s heading to the lab.”
Caleb sighed exasperatedly and hurried out of the door after Zeke.
“You know, this morning you said you’d teach me how to shoot,” Beth said to Robert, smiling slightly.
“I did, didn’t I? Want to go now?”
“Where are we going?”
“Just down the corridor.”
Beth slid her hand into his. “Lead the way,” she grinned.
He smiled and pulled her out of the room, through the door they’d entered through earlier. He led her back up the metal corridor a little, to a door on the other side.
“Robert?” a voice said.
Robert turned to its source, and so did Beth. A boy, appearing about sixteen or seventeen, with Aaralyn and Jay’s brown and white hair, was approaching them.
“What’s up, Caelan?” Robert asked, turning towards him.
“Mum and Dad are coming tonight. They’ll be bringing Ellie and Kallie,” the boy, Caelan said.
“Okay. Are we still going through with your initiation tonight?”
Caelan nodded and grinned. “Looking forward to it.”
Robert grinned back. “Zeke’s in the lab if you want to talk to him by the way.”
“Thanks.” Caelan disappeared through a side door after putting in a code.
Robert typed a number into the lock on the door and pushed it open, gesturing for Beth to enter first. She stepped in, looking around. The room was a large shooting range. Robert went over to one of three large metal cupboards. He opened it and took two guns out, as well as a stack of ammunition.
He went over to the blocks and placed the guns and ammunition on the shelf in front of him.
Beth went over to him after a moment.
“First things first,” Robert said, holding out a gun to her. “Reloading.”
She took the gun from him hesitantly. He held out some ammunition to her, which she also took.
“What type of gun is this?” she asked curiously as she examined it, trying to figure out how to put the ammunition in.
“It’s a Glock 39 with a .45 GAP cartridge,” he replied.
She looked at him with a raised eyebrow.
“It’s a pistol,” he said, smirking slightly.
She held it out to him, as well as the ammunition. “Show me,” she said, giving up.
He smiled and took it off her. “Ammo goes in this way.”
“Oh,” she said, blushing slightly.
He kissed her briefly before handing it back to her.
