Chapter 23.4Mature

Robert sat up. Beth turned so she could look up at him. He was frowning at her.

“Why?” he asked.

“Just wondering.”

“One was from Aneska and the other from Vanessa, an old friend.”

“You still talk to Aneska?” Beth asked.

“Of course. I kind of have to anyway,” Robert said quietly.

“She’s our queen.”

Beth’s eyes widened in surprise. “Really?”

“Wow,” Beth said, lying back down on Robert. He relaxed and Beth realised that he’d been worried about her reaction.

She pulled his arms around her waist and held them there.

When Beth opened her eyes, it was dark but she could tell she was lying in bed. There was a noise downstairs and Beth realised it had woken her. She held her breath and there was another noise.

She grabbed Robert's arm and shook him gently.

“What’s wrong?” he asked sleepily, not opening his eyes.

“I think there’s someone downstairs,” she whispered.

He paused for a moment. “It’s Isabella.”

“You’re sure?”

He nodded, still lying on his pillow. “She’s in the library.”

“Is she supposed to be here?”

He shrugged. “She’s allowed.”

“Okay,” Beth breathed.

She lay back down and Robert put his arms around her waist. He pulled her to him easily. He ran his nose down her neck and kissed her shoulder.

“I love you,” he whispered, half asleep.

“I love you too.”

Beth easily fell asleep again.

Robert was still wrapped around Beth when she woke. She sighed. Robert kissed her bare shoulder blade. When exactly was her t-shirt removed?

“Good morning,” he whispered against her skin.

His breath on her sent a shiver down her spine.

“Good morning. What are we doing today then?”

“Whatever you want to do.” Robert practically read her mind, knowing exactly what she was thinking. “Except that.”

Beth pouted and she could tell that Robert was smiling.

“Can we go shopping?” she asked tentatively.

Robert pushed himself up on his elbow. Beth looked up at him, biting her lip. He’s so gorgeous, she thought to herself.

“Shopping?” he asked, a bemused expression.

Beth nodded. He pulled her lip free and leant down as if to kiss her.

“Shopping,” he murmured in agreement before kissing her softly.

The passion automatically ignited. They weren’t going to be leaving the house any time soon.
